The bento today is based on a daruma doll, the red okiagari doll with elaborate facial details and is seen as a symbol of perseverance and good luck, and is a popular form of encouragement. The eyes of the daruma doll are usually blank when sold, and one eye is drawn in when a goal is set, and the other eye drawn in when the goal is accomplished.
I made a cute version of daruma today, and dressed the daruma as Hello Kitty. There are two versions in this bento. The onigiri version is made of rice coloured with ketchup, and the egg version is a hard boiled egg soaked in beetroot juice to tint it.
Both are so cute!
So cute and I love both, the colors turned out lovely!:)
I love your theme and the chopstick rest is beautiful!
